The Government must prioritize the agricultural sector by strengthening initiatives and practical approaches to revive the economy instead of resorting to International Monetary Fund(IMF) for survival.

Mr Abraham Dwuma Odoom, the Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa Constituency has said in the government quest of reviving the economy, the agric sector must be critically looked at instead of running to the IMF

Mr Dwuma Odoom who doubles as the former Deputy Minister for Local Government made the statement in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast.

He stated that the country would see a major boost when potentials in the agriculture sector was maximize and prioritized.

“Why can a country like Ghana import tooth picks whilst bamboos are in abundance “ he lamented.

He noted that Africa particularly Ghana must take agric revolution serious to create employment for the youth to help reduce the unemployment rate to improve standard of living of the people.

The Former MP revealed that Ghana has 60 percent of arable lands in the land which could help develop the country when needed effort where made.

He explained that Agriculture was the first business of man therefore it holds the future of Africa and the world at large.

Mr Dwuma -Odoom stressed that Africa needs to convert the potentials into manifestation thus the major comparative advantage was the vast land.

He noted that Africa and especially Ghana must utilize the potentials to opportunities to improve and benefit businesses for the growth and development of economy.

On improving agriculture in the country, he stated that there is a the need for paradigm shift to change narrative and move beyond the usual things to unusual to achieve expected results.

Mr Dwuma -Odoom added that Ghana must drop the importation of products and goods that could be grown and patronize made in Ghana produce
